Today's Hadith

Jumah Mubarak!

Below is the hadith for  today. Inn shaa Allah, reading of this hadith and sharing it with our love ones shall be accepted as an act of ibadah. Amin.

Topic: Participate in Good

Narrated Ayyub that Hafsa bint Sirin said, “We used to forbid our young women to go out for the two Eid prayers. A woman came and stayed at the palace of
Bani Khalaf and I went to her. She said, ‘The husband of my sister took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), and my sister was with her husband in six of them. My sister said that they used to nurse the sick and treat the wounded. Once she asked: ‘O Allah’s Messenger! If a woman has no veil, is there any harm if she does not come out (on Eid Day)?’ The Prophet said, ‘She should cover herself with the veil of her companion and should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gathering of the Muslims.’”

Hafsa added, “When Umm Atiya came I went to her and asked her, ‘Did you hear such and such a thing?’ Umm Atiya replied, ‘Yes. May my father be sacrificed for him (the Prophet)! I have heard the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) saying, ‘The young unmarried virgins who often stay screened and the menstruating women should come out (on the Eid day). But the menstruating women should keep away from the Musalla (praying place). And all the women should participate in the good deeds as well as the religious gatherings of the believers.’”

Hafsa said, “On that I said to Umm Atiya, “’Also those who are menstruating?’” Umm Atiya replied, “Yes. Do they not present themselves at Arafat (Hajj) and elsewhere?” [The Book of the Two Eid Festivals: Sahih Bukhari]

This hadith tells us to participate in good deeds, even if it means that women who normally do not go out, veil themselves, and go out. One should participate in that which increases their reward with Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). In order to achieve a good end, however, one must not resort to means that are disliked by Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) because it is our effort that Allah rewards. The result is, in any case, in Allah’s hands. And He doesn’t need our efforts to bring anything about. We act only to obtain Allah’s pleasure. What we are rewarded and punished for, are the actions that we undertake. The means to achieve any end must be according to what Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has allowed and what He approves of.

May Almighty Allah(subhana wa ta'a ala) soften our hearts to be the "kind" type, give us the foresight to see the good in good deeds and ability to participate in it. Amin.
